SOLO is a short film which describes how I felt when I first moved to Los Angeles. I was surrounded by a bustling city full of interesting people, yet somewhat removed from everyone. Inside the enigma of LA exists a wonderful paradox: that of being amid a crowd of people, yet feeling completely alone. Everyone is in their cars all day, and a great majority of people I meet here are trying to be someone they are not, leaving very little opportunity for any sort of genuine human connection. And so SOLO takes that idea to an extreme situation. Oscar Wilde wrote that "The only thing worse than being talked about is not being talked about." We all want attention. We all want to be loved. But if we are not subtle in our attempts to obtain a "partner", sometimes we end up playing with ourselves.
